BODY AS A REFLECTIVE STRUCTURAL ORGANISATION

Snježana Premuš’s Physical Manifestations was anticipated by a series of performances called Stories of the Body which dealt with the research of corporeality of the person and personality of the body. This is the entry point to the method of work that the artist has continuously developed and upgraded since 2010 and is characterized by the intertwining of various principles which through a specific dramaturgy form an unusual and intriguing stage language. The key role is played by the physiognomy of individual’s body as a reflective structural organisation which represents the kinaesthetic potential for movement. Through addressing the ballet language as a universal code and a disciplined body, and the significance of dynamic bodies in space, the topic of embodied thought acquires in Physical Manifestations an additional dimension allowing a reconsideration of corporeality, embodiment and the possibility of different understandings of the isolate and stage physicalities.
